Overseas subsidiary 'Brunner do Brasil' – Auslandsniederlassung "Brunner do Brasil"

It's with great enthusiasm that we announce the operative launch of our first overseas subsidiary, Brunner do Brasil, in 2020. Our ability to communicate in the local language and the elimination of the hassle of time differences allow us to confidently predict advantages for all phases of our customer projects.

What’s more, thanks to its work at Kakau Design, our Brazilian team has already gathered valuable experience in product and mould design and the production of chocolate moulds. The opportunity this gives us to produce particular moulds cost-effectively in Brazil but also to draw upon existing production technology in Germany will enable us to precisely cater to our customers’ wishes and priorities.

We had planned two trade fair appearances in Brazil, and our Brazilian mould specialists were supposed to be taking part in the Interpack trade fair in Düsseldorf. Sadly, coronavirus put paid to those plans.

All was not lost, however: at least our Brazilian colleagues had the chance to learn about the international confectionery and supply market at the ProSweets event in February. This was followed by a three-day workshop at our headquarters in Glonn to plan all the details for 2020.

We were then able after all to present ourselves at the ‘Chocolat São Paulo 2020’ festival for the three days from 12 - 14 March. However, this coincided with the beginning of the lockdown in São Paulo, with the effect that the event was cut short by a day.

We were nonetheless able to establish contact with a lot of smaller chocolate manufacturers and company managers, and there was a great deal of interest in our moulds and mould systems.

The majority of our planned subsequent customer visits then unfortunately had to be cancelled, and, to be on the safe side, our managing director Mr Gebhart left Brazil early.

But despite all the restrictions resulting from the pandemic, Brunner do Brasil is doing really well. The two previous owners of Kakau Design, Sandro Link and Tiago Arnhorld, managed to acquire some new customers and already have some promising projects on the go in Brazil. Not only this, but Brunner do Brasil and Hans Brunner GmbH are working together on customer projects with international chocolate manufacturers on the Brazilian market.

This involves close coordination to assign the roles in any given chocolate project between the two firms, with the aim of generating the greatest possible customer benefits.

A weekly team video conference has proved to be an excellent tool in this collaboration.

Brunner do Brasil is currently developing a frame system tailored to the Brazilian and South American market, derived from the ‘BLUEFLEX (R)’ and ‘BLUEFLEX (R) Carrier’ frame system. This will replace the aluminium frame systems that are widely used there.

This will make handling easier and increase product quality. The good news is that this doesn't rule out the continued use of the existing PET insert moulds.

In 2021, we intend to carry on with our original plans for the Brazilian market.

One of our Brazilian colleagues will take part in the Interpack trade fair in Düsseldorf (25 February to 3 March 2021), and an appearance at the FIPAN in São Paulo is already scheduled (20–23 July 2021).

We also hope to reschedule all the joint customer visits we had planned for Brazil this year.
